I installed my lights a bit differently..

I basically kept the bimmer housing bracket, chopped it up quite abit, chopped up most of the rad support on the max, made my own brackets for the headlights and grill.
Did the complete job in under 3hrs, while bbqing!!
I didnt even know about the Maxima.org message board at the time. I heard about one guy in the area that had bimmer lights, My friend wasnt sure( he's auto body mechanic), but looked into it, and said the light were about the same size. so I gave it a shot.
Yippers it works!!

Cut the radiator support???

Is it safe to cut the radiator support. I am a part time body man and i know that the radiator support adds to the structure of the frame. I dont know if i want to risk my safty for some beamer headlights! thank you for the detailed instructions but i think im gunna get the lights and try to alter the lights around the radiator support...by the way how much did the lights run u?

thanks

Jay

bimmer lights..

My friend works at a body shop, he pulls frames all day, he ensure me it was okay to cut away some rad support, as long as i dint mess with main structure of the rad support, It will not weaken anything noticeably when in an accident, plus the rad support is mainly there to support the headlight assemblies, rad, condensor horn and so on. Yes it does add some strength to the cars frame, but if you smack someone on an angle on the front, youre gonna probably bend the frame anyway.
I could of had the lights for free, but my friends shop deals with newer cars only, theyre ISO 9000 registered, so every part taken off a car is numbered, even broken parts! The previous shop he was at, he could grab whatever he wanted. But, at this shop, the workers have to buy the parts they need for their side jobs.
Anyway it cost me $300CDN for both, one had a broken bracket, but both in pretty good shape, a lot of stone chips on them, but then i found out you can buff plastic, so he did, and theyre like new lenses, not a scratch!!
