need some help! with recall
need some help! with recall
I have a 91 se. I have a hole in my trunk and my seat belt has failed. I called nissan and they said the fuel filler recall was done. At the time of the recall the iner fender was fine so nothing was done. they also said the seat belt has a life time warrenty but only on the seat belt itself not on the metal it is bolted to. What should I do?

You might be out of luck. One smart thing, is to document everything...who you talk to, times, written letters...everything.
God forbid something should happen to someone riding in your car, at least you would have something to go in court if needed.

Did you call Nissan USA or the dealer?

I called nissan usa and no one is going to ride in the seat with the broken seat belt. It is against state law too.
You are aware of the problem with the seat belt and therefore liable 100% for any injury resulting from a crash. Don't try and play them, just give up. They're not going to fix your 13 year old car. I've been through this a million times with people, and there is another thread on this page about another guy going through it. Bottom line is: it was declared a corrosion recall and NOT a safety issue so it's not going to get fixed unless you bought it brand new and paid $20K+ for it and it's a 93 or 94 and you bought it and drive it in the 'salt belt' that runs throught the MidWest US. Sorry. You can get it fixed by a body shop, but you'll still be liable for anyone's safety sitting in that seat. Good luck
