Does Anyone's Heather Totally Suck??

Wudup, yo...my heater is the weakest on earth. It takes forever to warm up in the mornings...and then when it get's ½ way on the Temp guage...i'll turn on the heat and the guage drops to the holding pin and it blows cool air. my AC is ICE COLD. but is one of my heater lines clogged? do i need a new thermostat? i've got a '90 GXE w/ 67k miles. if that helps...thanks fellas

It may be your temp sensor. Mine does the exact same thing. My cousin, an ex-mechanic, told me this. I'm gonna replace it this week, and I'll post results.

You beat me to it!
ahem, anyways...My heater sucks a lot. It doesnt warm up until I'm all the way to work in the morning even though the car is warm. Also It gets reall F'n hot when I'm stopped in traffic and the blower is on 2.
Dunno...I'd chalk this up to another "maximism" if you will.

The heater in mine kind of sucks. It just kind of blows luke warm air at low settings. I had the thermostat replaced this summer. May have to replace the temp sensor.

Well I found out the problem on mine. That switch to the left of all the heater controls with the blue wavy lines needs to be set to the down position when you have the heater on. Mine is really hot now. I felt like such an idiot. Never tried it before until recently.

For those of you who heaters sucks, well mine runs great! Anyway, when is the last time you guys done a cooling system flush? I'm betting that it has been a while. After a while, you get scaling, sediment and rust build up through out the cooling system, including the heater core. When that happens, it just starts loosing efficiency. If that doesn't do it, I would check the valve that controls how much engine coolant is ran through the heater core, that is probably bad.

Ya know... the funny thing is, I knew EXACTLY who you're talkin' bout when you said heather brooke! OMG, is all I can say bout her!

But I digress....

My heater was for crap so far this winter (and let me tell ya - it ain't fun drivin' to work in sub-zero weather with NO HEAT!!) until I changed my thermostat out this past weekend. So far, it's warming up nicely. But unfortunately, so is the outside temperature, so I can't adequately compare it yet. But with me living in North Dakota, I'm sure all I gotta do is wait a sec for the weather to change.
