Problem with Keypad/Security System ?
Hi All,
I am caught in a situation here. I bought a Nissan Maxima '93 last week and the previous owner had never used the keyless entry numeric pad, so I never dug into it. Today, when I was trying to open the driver side door, the key didn't rotate at all, so after some time, I planned to get in from passenger side door. This triggered the alarm system and even after putting the key in the keyhole, it didn't stop honking. The engine also never started. I even tried to jumpstart, but all the lights glow fine and I guess, there's no problem with battery. So I had to leave the car as it was in the mall parking.
I don't have any security code or anything. Can anyone please help ?
Thanks !

There have been lots of discussions on things related to people not knowing their security code. Underneath the dash on the passenger's side front, there is a sticker with a 7 digit master code for the keypad. I'm not completely sure but i think the procedure goes something like this to change code.
1. Hold ST button until you hear a solid beep
2. Enter 7 digit code
3. Enter code of your choice 4-8 digits(not in succession, no repeats)
4. Use new code to unlock door.
Like I said, I'm not sure these are the steps, but search and you'll find other write-ups on the same thing.
Peace,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin.
I will look for that number and will give it a shot first thing in the morning. I may have to get hold of a dealer also.
Just a passing thought- What I felt weird was : why should the alarm go off when I went in legally using my key from the passenger door ?

My bad
OK I was a little off:
Press ST, not hold.
then enter the 7 digit code found under the glove box
THEN you'll hear a long beep
That's when you enter your choice of a code.
THe beep should stop.
Then your new code will open the door.
By the way, you owe me for this one. This same discussion is going on in a thread about 4-5 threads up the list. (almost the same). All you gotta do is use that search function man, sometimes the answers even show up right under your nose.
Consider this one a freebie.
