water pump not so bad w/ help
water pump not so bad w/ help
well, did the good ole ve water pump...and it actaully wasnt near as bad as i thought...the only other repair ive done, the rear valve cover gasket, was much more time consuming in fact, but w/o using my manual and the write-ups here of cours ei woulda been lost...so heres what i did ...
i basically used my manuals instructions (chilton's) but took the pump out the top. i used the write ups available as help 2...so basically i just took off 2 belts, took off the a/c idle pully, jacked up the engine from the oil pan, and just pulled the bish out...w/o jacking up the engine this becomes basically impossible for me, as i didnt take out the crankshaft pully or nething cause i dont have many tools and such...but neway, just letting those VE owners out there that u shouldnt b scared of doing the water pump...not really that bad

This makes me feel better about tackling mine. About how long did it take you to do it? I just did a VG water pump at work and it was pretty simple and straightforward. I will most likely be doing mine from the inner wheel well. Who else on here has a write-up on the VE water pump?
Rosenken: hmmm...was i supposed 2 loosen the mounts?
...oh well...
FASHIZL: do i search 4 water pump in this forum...youll find the write up...im jus 2 lazy 2 find it 4 u
but if u r 2 lazy as well, just let me know and i can email it...if u don have a chiltons, pick 1 up cause they r god, and not spensive like a fsm or whatever its called...pretty useful advice in those manuals...
