Single disc player for 3rd gen

I have 93 Maxima SE. I have stock Bose sound system. I currently have only Cassette/Radio... I am planning to upgrade my system to play
audio CDs too

Now I have two options. I can buy a single disc player made for maxima.

I hope I don't have to buy extra connector or adapter for this change. I think what I do need is 8 pin FEMALE on the stock HU..

Or the other option is to buy a stock HU with CD (of course used)..

Now I have heard some users b****ing about stock HU with CD.. Basically they have high failure rate I guess..

So I am thinking of first option (single disc) seriously...

Please let me know of your experience... I appreciate it...

I know your honest opinion would be to scrap Bose.. but I don't want to spend any more money right now... It is not that I love Bose but I don't hate it ..so far

Well I guess I've been lucky because my bose has been working great so far. Umm in page 4 of my homepage I have a pic of my HU w/ CD from a 97 Maxima and I've had it for a year and no problems, the speakers work fine and the HU itself has had no problems. Making the harness was a ***** but it works.

The Bose system is great for a factory system, especially for it's time. If you want to play CDs and don't care about SPL and all that other stuff I don't understand then it's a great way to go.
I even have one if you are looking for one. I'll set you up with the whole thing, the cd player, tape player, and radio if you want...

How about this? Picked it up off ebay for $120. Somewhere there's a thread I made with the harness adaptors for it (available at your Nissan dealer). Works like a charm!

My buddy just got one of those for his 93 5-speed. He likes it except for the really long time it takes to switch CD's.

There's a guy that sells them on ebay every now and then. They are for new Nissans as a dealer option. Dealers sell the units for $400+

careful with those changers. if they are from the new maximas there have been a lot of 5th genners complaing about them going out. there have been a lot of people that are on their 3rd or 4th one now.

That Cd add on is pretty cool, the only that I don't like is that the Cd player looks so much newer than the stock unit. I rather have my fourth gen CD/Tape player and I think it also matches the interior better for our cars. People who don't know maxima's think that it's a stock unit.
