Rear Defrost

Okay guys, the next time I am around one of you guys, feel free to kick me sqaure in the nuts. I kinda deserve it. I am getting my tint redone. Being the thrify guy I am, I let a friedn of mine strip the tint that was on there now. He did an okay job, but the main problem was that he ripped part of my rear defrost lines off my rear windshield.

Are there any places that sell a rear defrost kit or something so I can hook it back up?

Depending on how bad it is, I have seen a liquid that fills the gap in the line and completes the circuit. But that is generally for small breaks in the lines. You can chack it using a continuity tester with some aluminum foil around the probes, making a Flag if you will. Press the foil flags aginst the lines, this prevents further damage from the probes. If more than an inch is gone, I don't see this liquid being a viable repair. Might be best to swap rear glass from a salvage yard. I've never looked into repairing a large portion of the system, only small breaks like I have experinced. Good luck.

Well, the damage I suffered on the defroster from removing the tint was as severe as it gets! And I still managed to repair it with that liquid defroster kit. Granted, my rear windshield looks like a bad game of hangman played by an illiterate blind man, but it works.

That's good news, I've been meaning to do this repair.

you would probably need a whole new window unless there is an automotive window shop that can repair them.

there are many different types of kits out there. i used the one where u had to mix a powder and a liquid together and then you put it on your window, it comes with a razor blade to help u cut the line straight also, but look around. When i bought my kit, there were like 5 other types of kits out to fix defroster lines....
