It rained all day that day and a friend of mine met me at my school and snapped a few for me. (yes i know i parked crooked as ****)

'92 SE, VE30DE engine and has the V on the end of tranny code
leather, power moonroof/seats, heated mirrors
106kmiles picked it up for $3500.

---
drives great loving it. only one this is bothering me. Sometime when cruising the tranny will down shift erratically, sometimes only down to 3rd and somtimes all the way down 2nd. Its real smooth, i only notice it by the way it surges forward and i see the tach has jumped up. (also, sometimes it also feels like it hangs inbetween where gas doesn't seem to effect it buti maintain speed, its strange)

the guy i got it from had recently done a tranny fluid change and its over full...like way, i checked it this morning before running the car and it was above the "hot" markings while cold. ive heard over filling them can cause shifting errata, tomorrow i plan to try and drain some. im still hoping this is the problem, the errata doesn't happen very often, mostly just drives real smooth. I didn't do it the times i had testd driven it either >_< errr. what do yall think?

yea im loving the 240 rims, previous own had those swapped onto it.

The shifting is not necessarily uphill, just when crusing along even when using cruise control on interstate. already took a 100mile trip to atlanta and back over the weekend. but it has done it on shorter excursions as well.

Make sure you check you're transmission fluid while the car is running. It's best if you drive on it for a while before checking it. When the fluid is hot, it should read in the hot range. If not, and it's way overfilled, post here again, and I'll tell you how to drain some out.

I figure its not hard to drain some, get a bucket, and look for the transmission drain plug under the car. I've changed transmission fluid/filter on previous car.

But im quite new to maintenance stuff and im trying to get by without father's help, just not sure how long i really need to run it before it would be considered "HOT". don't have anywhere to really drive around tomorrow i don't think, so it would be a matter of how long should i let it idle....although i might should go grab a quart or 2 of dexron just in case i do let too much out. and a trip to store would be enough to make it "hot" i imagine so i answered my own question...excuse my ramblings

ok, help me out...i checked fluid while hot and it looks fine, right up on full. What would cause the shiftnig errata, the unnecessary downshifts.

This morning when i went out about 30min ago it was doing it from teh start, downshifting alot, but then smoothed out and drive home was fine. what causes this?

Well, I don't know alot about auto trannys but you may have a valve stuck open or closed. There are tons of people on here that know alot more about them than I do. At least I got ya pointed in the right direction, good luck with the rest!

friend recommended me to get some fuel injector cleaner. would be the best cheapest way to try and remedy the situation, said that clogged injecters might bog things down and the tranny might try to compensate by the downshifting errata.

was almost an immediate effect, took it through some winding rodes, engine felt alot more responsive, and pushed it hard a few times, never once even felt restritive or geared strangely.

I wouldn't think it would have an immediate effect so maybe is all physicological i dunno, more driving will tell if it fixed anything.

also told me to check air filter, which i had checked just after these problems began and had a ring of black gunk on it, but didn't look really clogged, nonetheless while i was out last saturday picked up an air filter but had forgotten about it...will replace it later cuz after i did the injector cleaner i dropped car off at mother's office and drove her honda back home, im about to go out and wash and wax it for her..uggh!

I want VE power

I took my front plate off the other day, looks much better. I think I'm gonna get some touch up paint and paint the screws so there aren't two holes.

I would take off my plate but those holes are going to bother me a lot so i'll just leave it.
