Ok i wired up a switch to cut on/off the dropdown resistor for my auto trans because it shifts at 100% line pressure with it off. My question is why does it do this? i mean what does cutting that resistor off actually do? Also is there a possiblity that it can mess up the transmission? What i always heard is firmer shifts are better but are there other side effects besides 100% shifts from this? I just wanna hear from people who have a little more tech knowledge in this area and from people who have ran with it disconnected for long periods of time.

what i've heard is that the fluid pressure is dropped and allows the car to shift smoother. if u disconnet it i believe it will shift w/ the fluid pressure higher...hence rougher and faster shift.

start thinking about running a ATF cooler if your going to do it. maybe running syn ATF also. the switch would also be good..so you can drop it when u want it.
