Good Deal?

Hello all,

Just curious on your opinion. I'm looking at a used 1989 Maxima SE with 82,000 miles on it. good condition, but the heat doesn't work (as said by the owner). It was owned by this lady's son but now she has it. For the price of $2,200 do you guys think its a deal? I'm in NY with zip code 11003 and the blue book value is $2,800. Pretty good condition.

Re: Good Deal?

sounds good to me, I'd try to have a mechanic or someone look it over(even if you have to pay a small fee)with only 82k for $2200....sounds like a good deal other than the small heating issue!

If its a bad heater core, I wouldnt buy it. Definetly have it checked.

I think it's a good deal for the car.

If it's a bad heater core, don't buy it? You would pass on a nice low mileage car for 2200.00 because of a bad heater core?

Call around and see what the price is on a heater core replacement, then you will see why I said that.

I know, it's pretty labor intensive. If I had to pay for it, I probably couldn't afford it. But I would do it myself.

Still a good deal on the car though.

I have an 89 SE with 84k miles, auto, fully loaded, but it needs paint the the Bose stereo fixed, and my least price is 2800.00

To get a good car with low mile for this kind of money is good in my opinion.

that sounds like a good deal. did u run a CARFAX report on it yet?

BE sure to check the tranny extensively (either manaul or auto), the general condition of the exhaust manifold studs, ALL repair history if available. do check for misfiring cylinders as well...u know... the usual checks on a maxima

heating could be a simple thermostat to a bad heater core...a professional mechanic could check the car out for ya before u buy it for a small fee.

good luck!
