Pop trunk not working, any ideas?????

My trunk doesn't pop up when I push the botton under driver's arm rest. I tried WD40. Any other ideas?

There is a valet lock out...open trunk, look down, the striker on the
body. See the bolt holding it in? See the hole just to your left?
There is a lever, UP to allow button to work, DOWN=button no work.

if the above don't work

get another person (or you) to push down on the trunk while some pushes the trunk button

Push down on the trunk

LOL, yea 93 Max, that's what I often have to do is push down on the trunk to get it opened. My key won't work in the trunk either so if that solenoid ever quits I'm out there......

Adjust the striker in the body of the trunk so that it is in the center of the trunk lid part as the trunk lid closes. If it is out of adjustment, the solenoid will not release the latch.

What tool do you suggest?

Should I use Pliers or a screwdriver. I haven't looked there yet so I'm not sure what I need. From what I understand you are telling me to adjust the mechanism on the trunk lid right? Adjust it so it is half way in the middle? Thanks for your help. I had my key hole shaved for custom shows. I never adjusted it. Thanks again.

The part that you adjust is NOT in the trunk lid, but in the body of the trunk between the tail lights. You need either a screw driver or a bolt driver - I forget.

Is it easy to access?

Do I need to remove the bumber to access this or is it right there in the body interior where trunk locks onto?

You access from inside the trunk - where the trunk locks onto.

If you say that your keyhole is shaved that means the only way to get access into the trunk is by removing the back seat. Its fairly simple, the seat pops off. After that remove the aluminum bar behind the seat and climb into the trunk. When you press the button for the trunk under the door armrest do you hear it clicking?

Yes, I already have access. I removed the back seat once this problem occured. I've haven't really tried adjusting it. I sprayed WD40 in there but the problem occured again. There is a clicking sound when I push the button under the arm rest. I think it does have to be adjusted.

sorry for resurrecting an old thread...

but I have a similar problem in my '94 max. My trunk keeps trying to open (click click click) the button on the door doesn't do anything, and even though the trunk tries to open, it really doens't. I've tried fiddling with the switch and what not, but it hasn't seemed to do anything.

Is there a fuse to disconnect the pop trunk from working altogether? Anyone know which fuse that is in particular? Thanks!

Maybe I can shed some light on this thread. I have the same problem in my 94 GXE. The button on the door makes the clicking noise in the trunk and the trunk won't open. THe key still opens it and like you guys said, if someone presses on the trunk while i hit the button, it will come open. When i went to investigate, I found that the part that releases from the latch (the part on the trunklid itself) has a spring on it that had broken and was hanging loose. my guess is that this is your problem if the alignment is OK. Hope you get it working. Mine's been broken for about a year now.

Peace

Clarify?

I have the same problem, the little switch that you push down for Vallet falls down on its own. I can pull it up and it will work for a couple of days then it wont open and I have to use the key again to open and pull the lever up. What kind of adjustment can be made to keep it from falling, or am I missing some kind of spring. Ideas or pics would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
