Motor Mounts bad, or something worse?
You may have read my other thread about how I took my newer SE in for a wheel balance because I had this bad vibration while accelerating between 40 and 55. They replaced my drivers side wheel bearings and cup and balanced all 4 wheels. The problem is still there. It's almost like passenger front wheel is out of round but it only occurs at those speeds. It also goes away if I coast at the same speeds.
I jacked the whole front end up last night to try to get an idea of the problem. When I let out the clutch I heard this sound; it's hard to describe, almost like maybe an arrow stapler or something, sort of like metal hitting a really dense piece of metal. The noise occured every time the wheels went around, and at the exact same time as the sound, the engine would drop a couple inches on the passenger side. WTF is going on?! I had someone ease the clutch out while I looked under there but I couldn't find anything that would cause the sound/engine shifting. Does this sound like a bent shaft, broken mounts, bad CV joint, or just a fluke because I had the car jacked up and the wheels hanging down? Also, I don't hear the sound with the wheels on the ground, but I guess that doesn't mean it's not still shifing the engine up and down.
I plan to take the car back to the place that did the work and harass them about it because I took it to get the vibration fixed and they didn't do it. Granted they fixed something else that was a huge problem, but my problem wasn't fixed. This isn't even something they could have overlooked while test driving it since the whole car bounces up and down nauseatingly.
