my car has been having a real strong gas smell seemingly coming from the vents. it appears to be more noticable the colder it is, and it gets worse when i put my heat 1-4 **** up to 3 or 4, again showing that it seems to be coming right through my vents... whats the deal? its really annoying and im afraid its not all that safe either.. any ideas?

 

i get a similar problem sometimes.

 

it's the rubber fuel lines under the hood. They are old and will have hairline cracks in them. When cold they expand and let gas seep out. When it's warm they contract enough so gas doesn't get out. Replace them...
