Help 92 Nissan Maxima eating altenators

I have a 92 Nissan Maxima, and I have replaced the altenator 3 times in the last year. I have replaced the battery and know that it is good.
Does anyone have any idea why or what might be making the altenator go bad?

I am wondering if it has a major electrical problem because every time I touch the car door to open or close it, it shocks me.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Getting shocked when touching the door handle is caused by static electricity which is a natural bi-product depending on your clothing and enviornment. For the 3 alternators within the past year, I have to ask where are you buying these alternators. Don't be surprised to go thru numerous alt before finding a unit that last for years and years. There's a difference between the rebuilt and reman alternators. Rebuilt being they open the alt and replace item that caused it to fail. Reman being they replace every part not just the failed piece, or visa versa I'm not too sure. So buy your alt from a reputable store. Do you have a high output stereo system, that also plays a roll in this

Okay first of all are u buying autozone alternators?
If so then that is ur probable cause, and wasted time on free replacement alternators. My brother had a civic and replaced three alternators on it form autozone junk and the dealer guaranteed him that if he spent the money on a dealer alt. it will solve all his problems.

good luck
