compression springs
compression springs
has anyone compressed there stock springs, if so how did you compress them and can you give me the steps into doing so? has the ride change at all after you did that, more harsh or more comfort? i would like to know please
Let me first say that I agree - you should just buy actual lowering springs.
Now..., if you didn't mean lowering the spring by heating them, but instead actually wanted to 'compress' them, you can.
You can buy kits that contain 2 clamps and 4 bolts (per corner). One clamp goes on top of one coil, and the other clamp goes under the next coil (2 coils). The bolts are inserted and tightened. This basically holds those 2 coils together - thereby lowering the car.
I've seen them used, but haven't used them myself. I wouldn't personally do it, but it's an option I guess?

I have to 3rd the fact that you would be better off getting new springs. I'm not a big fan of quick and dirty methods of lowering, if not just for safety sake. It's worth the extra bean for the specificly designed springs.

i'm going out on the limb and say that you mean heating up the coils and making the spring shorter?
