did vtc grounding while motor was flushed

well, it was oil change time so per eric's advice i did the vtc grounding and hooked up a switch to it, so while i ran my flush i grounded and ungrounded the vtc assembly...
u could actually here the grounding take place, it was a short "snap" when grounding occurred, also the sound of the idle would change slightly after a second or two, not immediatly
i have perfectly functioning vtc assemblies, and hopefully this will keep the oil gallies clean, ill post ne new developments, e.i. if the car sounds quieter, motor blows up, ect as they happen

Personally I would'nt do that, I'm not totally convinced its good for the ECU when done for long periods like many have done. We already know you'll loose a lot when they are grounded.

Have fun at the track, and if you can play with advancing the timming to see the advantages in it, as long as you know what you are doing.

well, the car was running so well i didnt mess w/ nething really...times were (in order) 15.907@87.78,15.673@88.33, 15.882@87.75, and 15.879@87.72
i was very surprised the car ran so strong...only mod in a drop in k&n and its kinda borderline to even call that a mod...of course since im painting the car its short over 100lbs after i took out the spare, jack, the rear door covers, door insulation, spoiler, and lotsa paint (good 4 a couple lbs right lol)...even so, im very very happy w/ my car right now (auto btw)

Unfortunately you do not have perfectly functioning VTC's, and the grounding will not help keep the gallies clean. Grounding the VTC's you are keeping the VTC engage (or disengage, I cant remember) at all times, so instead of being controled by the ECU you are controlling them. Regurlar PM service and good quality oil is only way to keep your gallies clean. FYI, it has been known for VTC's to start clicking (after a period of time) even after being grounded. Cheers

Mike, he installed a switch to temporarilly ground his VTCs while doing a motor flush. He doesnt have anything wrong with his vtc (not ticking) he just did this as a maintanance measure.

Maximajism94se, those are some damn good times for a stock VE

PM = Preventive Maintenance
(i.e. fluid change, tire rotation, suspension work, tune-up, etc.)
You said, it made you may look stupid
bish...

Even with good PM the VTC's can go bad. That was the flaw in our engine. Hense the fact that it only lasted 3 years!
