Stillen Intake????

just finished installing the hi flow stillen intake i purchesed straight from stillen through the phone, and it cost me 202 shipped, which i think is a bit too much for a cone intake, but i got it anyway.
now, the sound difference is amazing, not much difference in regular driving but in full thruttle the car sounds AGGRESSIVE!!

but on the performance side, i was ashamed to admite that the car drives about the same! RPM seems to pull harder and reach 7 when i mash the gase and the car screams like it never had before, but i do not feel any power gains at all! (it promissed 8 HP gains at least)

i own a 89 se max, with the VG type engine, and the intake is the first none cosmetic upgrade to the car till this date.
is there any VG owners who have a stillen intake?
did it act the same?

i was planning on installing a complete exhaust kit (Y,B PIPE, catalyc converter, and muffler) next but im not too sure now
im afraid it will be another weiste of money that would make the car sound aggressive but not really deliver.
help!
opinions welcome.

I dont know if it DOES make that much of a gain, but im sure it makes some sort of gain. Just because you can't feel it on the butt dyno doesn't mean it's not happening.

i also installed a cone intake just the other day (it was meant for a 95-99 eclipse but i got it to fit) and im in the same boat as you. no real power gains but awesome sound. im sure i got maybe 2 or 3 horses but it seems like the engine is more responsive now, and i cant get over how much better it sounds! anyway thought id let you know its not just you

http://www.stillen.com/sportscars_detail.asp cat=2&subcat=&id=2791&page=1

plus tax&ship it came to 202!!!!!

id like to hear your opinion on the question at hand tho, why is there no noticeable gain?
is it worth the investment??

I do believe the Jim Wolf Intake is the same thing, at a much better price. I would personally have gone with the Warpspeed CAI

damn $202 for a cone filter, maf adaptor and a clamp. You could have gotten a CAI for that much, oh well whats done is done, You will probably feel more of a gain when you get those other mods listed, next time if your not sure about a price post here, or do a search to see what other people have paid.

Yeah CAI would have been a MUCH better choice.

Pop-chargers are only good for *maybe* 2hp (that's why I cant see people paying for names - Stillen, JWT, etc when you can make your own).

I felt more from my CAI than I did from my y-pipe, so that's sayin alot. Plus it looks way cooler

one thing that is really nice abt the stillen is the CARB approval sticker, that proves that its street legal, iv had a few friends that got pulled over and got a ticket becaust their intake wasnt street legal.

is the CAI's like that 2?
or is it only the stillen??

basicley i need advice what to do.

1. stay with stillen, wait till upgrade exhaust sys to get HP results

2.try to return stillen, and buy CAI instead. (if CAI, then which 1 is best?)

your 2 cents welcome.

if you can return the stillen and get a CAI go for it, there all basically the same since its just piping. ant the WSP CAI is cheaper.
