Audio Install

I started to install an Amp and 2 12's today on my lunch break and thought I would have to burn the car. OK, whats the deal with getting the back seats out. Out of all the cars I've owned I've never had that much trouble pulling the back seat. Anywayz, what I need help with is, running my power wire. For those of you that have installed a system on their Max, does anyone know the easyiest way though the fire wall. I don't want to drill or anything like that, so I'm looking for some existing cables to follow. Thanks

search for "firewall" or something like that. There are many threads about this.

Most people run it through the drivers side wheel well...

No existing holes big enough to fit 4 guage wire through. Just drill a whole on the driver side of the fire wall. Its easy and cleaner.

yes there are. in my GXE, I ran a 2 awg wire through the hold for the hood release cable.
on my SE, the wire was even bigger, so I just drilled a hole in the firewall and stuck a grommet in there. easy cheezy.

Well, I just install a alpine amp last week & I found a rubber groument already in my fire wall. Took that one out, made a hole big enough for the wire. Sweet ***. I guess my Max is different since I'm right hand drive. Found it on the passenger side. Had heaps of space.

Yes, there is no open grommet for the 4 guag to go through. Gotta drill a hole !

Yes there is...look up to what Matt just posted. I did the same thing he did without a problem.

where the hood cable comes from is plenty big enough for a 4 ga I put a 4 ga. there and Matt used a 2 ga. there. but if you want to drill a hole thats fine too just be sure to use a grommet so it will not mess the wire up and short out.

cant remember if the fender has to come off though since my fender was already off because of the repairs I was doing.

It may be easier for you to drill a hole.

OK thanks guys, I will try to find the hole that Matt was talking about, hopefully I can do a clean install without drilling. If not I'll have to invest in a drill.

it's easy stuff.. just remove the plastic liner under the left fender and you'll see all of the stuff we're talking about.
