Sure. Why would you want to change it? It's probably at the best point anyway. You would have to hook the existing solenoid to an aftermarket rpm switch.

Not worth it. Like Jeff said, I am sure Nissan set it how it is for a reason.

just curious, but do you guys think...

that the VTCs turn "ON" at a certain RPM or what??

'cause I'm pretty sure it's actually that the solenoid TURNS OFF, at 4100rpm which retards the timing of the cam.

the FSM has a beautiful table and graph of this, but I'm recalling this from head... so I could be wrong.

don't mess with it. I played around with it on the dyno and did nothing but lose power. $60 in dyno runs to find out that nissan has it set to the best place already.

do you think that the y pipe could change the power curve enough to where adjusting the VI could gain power, i felt that the y pipe raised the power peak significantly.

I woudln't mess with it. it MIGHT change the power curve enough to be worthwhile if you were fully modded, but not just with intake and Y pipe.
for the costs involved in moving that rpm around and dyno tuning it so it's right, you can buy a lot of other mods that will give you more power.
