CAI ?'s

i've been dwelling on the wsp cai kit for my 91, but from all the talk you guys have been having on possible water seepage and junk im not to sure. i live in south south florida, and pretty much 9 months out of the year it rains every day, "monsoon season". don't know if i should be worried or what not, what do you all think?

The CAI is worth it because of the gains compared to a pop charger is better. I mean you would have to hit a big puddle of water in order to get enough water through the intake to hydro-lock the engine. You can get a bypass valve that will prevent water from going into the throttle body if water does manage to get into the CAI.

Re: CAI ?'s

I've been down in southern florida during those rainy months, the puddles on the street can turn into lakes sometimes! and although its a chance in hell you'll suck up some water into the motor, in your case I'd say DON'T go with a CAI or at least during those really rainy months remove it and go back to "short ram"!

its called the bypass valve, it's made by AEM and you put it between the CAI tubing and the MAF sensor for example and if water comes in it will catch it someway. Do a search on yahoo you should find a lot of stuff on AEM bypass valves.

buy the WSP CAI, then when you feel the need to return to popcharger style, just don't include the lower tube in your setup.

I've heard the exact same thing about the bypass valve, would it go in the intake tubing before the MAFS? Are they universal or does WSP sell them?

BTW dude, sry fer being a ****to you, all is well - no need to quarrel

As far as I know, WSP, Place Racing, and Cattman are the only ones you can get for our cars, unless of course you make your own.

I don't know which is best tho, I'd love to know.

Drew, just stick with a pop charger, in FL you might end up with a messed up motor with all the rain im sure u get. I know in houston we get some pretty deep water so play it safe.

Dont even think about bypass valve it works.. but in my opinion is crap.
