1990 Weird Problem Help !!!!!!!!!

I have a 1990 maxima and the wife said it was acting like it needed a fuel filter,i replaced the filter a went for a test run a it ran normal. The next day went to town and 15 min later it messed up again. It looses almost all power and actslike it s timing is off. I can put it in neutral and kill the motor and restart it and it will run fine, sometimes for a few min or ten min.I ohmed out the maf sensor and it checked ok .HELP

I think he's talking about the car hesitating. More info would definitely help out.

more info

when the car hesitates,it will barely go.You can put it in neutral and rev the motor but when you put back in drive it will not have any power. As i said ,you can kill the engine with the key while in neutral and then start it back up it will run just fine for maybe 2 to 20 min.It can be acting up and then you park it and then go out and start it and it will run normal for awhile.it looks like it is temp related but by turnong the key off it seems like it is resetting some kind of code.
