homemake CAI
Re: homemake CAI
It all depends on how you make it. I made my own midpipe with a 3" exhaust pipe from Auto Zone, plumbing fittings and ferco couplings from Home Depot. Works great and looks great.
My next project is to make my own lower pipe. JcWhitney has mandrel bent pipes already made. Or you can go to a muffler shop and do what this guy did...

Kevin are there gonna be any dyno's?
It's kinda annoying products coming out with no dyno numbers. WSP has no numbers for their CAI (that I know of). Although it's quite obvious it gets good gains, it'd just be nice to have specifics for stuff.
yes maxima2k2 since you have a VG engine there is an easy cheap way to make an awesome custom cold air intake. All you need is 3" PVC pipe, one 3" PVC 90 degree bend, two 3" rubber hoses with clamps, and one ~3/8 fitting (for the ACC)(these 4 @ home depot for around $15) and a generic air fiter (i used one from autozone for $20). Using these you can run the pvc right from the metal intake, parallel to radiator, infront of the battery and down into the front of the fender. This project requires some skill as you must extend the MAS senser wires about 1.5 ft, cut a hole near the fender wall, and relocate the antifreeze overflow tank and the fuse box (which sits on top of the intake pipe). This intake is far shorter than any aftermarket intakes, flows better and can be made for under $40.

I would expect it to be around the same price as WSP, but then again it's not like the design is gonna be anything different.

Last I checked, extending your MAF wires was some bad juju because you change the resistance of the wires by lengthening them.
Dark Lord Bunny, while its true the longer the wire the higher the resistance, this is only apparent in long distances. The extra 2ft you need adds no measuarable resistance to the MAS. I didnt just make this idea up, I have my car setup this way and I can assure you there is no "bad juju"

K cool, that basically just green-lighted the idea me and Aaron were tossing around for a custon ram/CAI setup on my car.
