What makes you think THAT is totalled?? Looks like 2 doors and some paint would get you back on the road. Is there any rocker or A/B pillar damage?

why not keep it? your probably gonna have to fight to get it totaled, I dont know how much they will give you if they total it anyway, why not try and get extra money and get a kit or something. I can give you the name of a body shop, they are pretty good with the insurance guys and can get you what you want.

Well it is two doors the fender, the wheel was hit and now is clicking and vibrating and thawas justhe drive home i am not driving it, it is in the garage. State farm says that if the damage is 75% or more of the book value through CCC then they total it out and u have no say in it, but u keep the car. whether I want to use that money and some of mine to fix it that is a decision i will have to make.

P.s. got a crappy focus as a rental car but it is free so whatever

Dude go and get a few estimates before the adjustor comes. Then when he comes you can show him the highest estimate you got . I guarantee that you'll get it $$$$$$. Make sure you tell the body shop all the details .

if they total the car you will only get the book value of the car (wont be very high), and I dont hink you get to keep the car. fight for the money to fix it.

look if you want to get the car fixed Call Tommy @ west babylon collision 631-321-4893, tell him your a freind of Jason Zullo (with the red maxima), tell him what happened and then tell him you want to get the car fixed but you think the insurance company may total the car, he will know what to do.

Insurance companies are supposed to give you "fair market value" for your car. When they give you a check for the totalled car, the number is negotiable! I've known people to lose a lot of money like this. Look through the papers to find similar cars, and show them the ads. That's what it would cost to replace the car and that's what they should pay you.

Man, I'd fight it if I were you. That Max looked pretty clean before the accident. And if you pull the parts from a scrap yard and have them repainted and the such, you'll still have some money left over for a little something something.

BTW....

Shame you sold those ZKW lights with the Angel Eyes, I would've gotten them off of you. All you needed to do was remove the headlight frame and cut a but of the frame behind it. Jared (TheEdgeProductions) and some other guy on the org (can't remember his name, has a maroonish Max) had 'em. Best part is, if done right, there's no gap.

Tommy is a good guy and knows his stuff, I was in there once and some lady wanted to keep her car (was alot worse than yours) and the insurance wanted to total it , he ended up getting them to pay to fix it.

My mom's 90 Caddie was just hit in the rear a few weeks ago. It has lots of miles on it (for a caddie 180k) but still runs strong. The insurance company totaled it. They offered her the car for $200 bucks off the settlement, so she gets the car and the difference in money. So to answer the question you can buy the car back from the insurance company if you want.

totalling out...

The way it works, well at least with my insurance company (USAA) They will give you the NADA value of the car (which is about as good as it gets) and then they will call 3 salvage yards for an estimate of what they will pay to buy the car from them. They will then pay you the value of the car and allow you to keep the car if you subtract off what their highest offer was for the wrecked car.

I've done this twice. (same car

The insurance companies don't run junk yards, they don't care who takes the car, just as long as they get money some money for the wreck. When you get the check for a totalled car you've basically sold them the car and they are free to do whatever their policy stipulates. I'd keep it and part it out, especially if it still drives.

If you do part it out, can I get the power steering pump and hoses??

Good luck.

make sure you send them receipts of all the money you put in. when my jetta got stolen, i sent them a detailed letter with all receipts via fax. i got hooked up. my whole system, rims, tires, tails, grill, tints were paid for plus they gave me real good money for the car. good luck man. hope you get treated as good as me and hope your back gets better.
