Jet Chip

Wassup guys, im thinking about purchasing the Jet Chip for my 1992 Nissan Maxima GXE. I wanted to know does anyone have this part on their car and do you feel the difference in take off and acceleration. Im also thinking about gettin a Performance flywheel, and a UR pulley. I already have a Place Racing CAI, GREDDY EXHAUST SYSTEM, RT Converter, and WSP Y-Pipe. I am trying to make my VG30E as fast as possible. Im up for any suggestions. But im mainly concerned about how the Jet CHip Performs. Thanks for all the help.

You're welcome to do a search on the subject, but in the years I have been on various Maxima boards/email lists, I've seen only one post that had good things to say about the Jet chip, and it was never backed up with dyno proof.

BTW, flywheel on a Automatic?

well they have flex plates and the torque converter bolts to the flex plate...its a common thing for people to call the flex plate a flywheel but what Randy was talking about is you cant buy an upgraded flexplate and you cant use a flywheel so...either he doesnt know what he is doing or is bsing.

to upgrade an auto get a shift kit or a valve body mod which makes it shift faster (no slipping into gear) and harder.

oops I forgot to answer the question at hand. As randy said I havent heard any good things about the JET chip but I have heard a ton of good things about the JWT ecu.

spend the money and get the JWT if you are serious about performance.

Search for more details.

good luck.

I heard JWT is the way to go.

Yea I haven't heard to much about the Jet chip so im going to purchase the JWT ECU. Im also purchasing Performance cams from JWT, and a performance control module chip from Venom, and a Ultra S underdrive pulley, with a lightened flywheel. Alot of bucks but my maxima will perform the way I want it to, hopefully. And the ECU and Venom performance control module chip are 2 different chips that can both be installed on the car at 1 time. I guess the only thing to do next is NOS. Im still up for more suggestions and more PROVEN facts. Thanks.

OK did you read mine and Randys post. You CAN'T put a lightened flywheel on a AUTO. The flywheel is only for the 5 sp. The autos use a flex plate and they are a whole lot thinner and lighter than a flywheel so there is no need to lighten it.

again if you have an AUTO then you CANT us a flywheel...repeat you CANT use a flywheel. Just want to make sure you get it through your head since that is a lot of money to waste.

Take the money you were going to spend on a flywheel and put a little more with it and get your heads ported. That can make a lot of power especially with larger cams.

good luck.

Re: Jet Chip

If you want to make it as fast as possible don't bother with those mods. I suggest buying a VG30ET or the conversion parts and go from there. That would involve getting the exhaust manifolds + turbocharger from a 85-89 300zx turbo. Then get either MSD 36lb/hr injectors or 370cc injectors from a 91+ 300zx twin turbo. Get a JWT ECU programmed for a turbocharger and the injectors you buy. Everything else a shop can handle. Some nice extra's would be a maximum tuning valve body and protorque Torque convertor. Expect to spend around $3-5k after it is all said and done.

Why not take the same $3-5K and buy a 92-94 SE 5spd w/LSD? Then sell your current GXE. You start at a point the going the mod route might get you to, except now you can take the money from the sale of your GXE and put it into modding the SE.

You'll NEVER get a non SE to be as fast as a SE when spending the same amount of money.

It's ALWAYS cheaper and easier to START with the car you want, rather then modding one you settled for into what you want.
