Deatiled "washing" the car?
Deatiled "washing" the car?
Ok, I have little oxidation on my hood, and spots all around the car. There is alot(widespread) oxidation on the bumpers. The clear coat has millions of tiny little swirls on it. How should I go about deatiling the car to help with all the little things? I've looked into this before, but don't remember the order I'm should do everything in, but I finally found the things yesterday;
California Gold clay bar, rubbing compound, polishing compound, and I've always had Meguiar's gold class wax.
Whats the best way to really get the paint to look almost brand new again?

no no no.... oxidation and hard water spots are caused by acid rain drying and creating tiny craters in your clear coat, and eventually getting to your color coat.
Is your car black? black is the absolute hardest color to maintain.
If i were you, I'd take it to a local detail place...(not to a gas station OR DIY carwash) Simoniz/Hoppy's - where ever. Tell them you want a FULL DETAIL and you want those spots gone. They'll wash it, dry it, clay bar it, and wax it.
Meguires Carnuba wax is the ****... full details run from $80-$110 depending on where you go
How much do you love your car though?

Not THAT much money love... I want to do everything my self('cause I'm one poor bastard). Love is a fikle thing when it comes to this car... it's usually a pleasure just driving, but I got it second hand, and now there's to many problems to count. I've pretty much given up on a future for this car. I bought it for $2900 with 148k miles on it. 2 weeks later the tranny blew(automatic). That cost $2100. Then, it was all good. Nice. I changed the spark plugs. The engine runs crappy and rich, and the dealership and my mechanic can't see a problem, but mechanic thought it was engine mounts. $500 later, it wasn't. A week later an injector failed. $500 for one, or $1100 for all six. I didn't have $1100 on my credit, so just got the one replaced. Drivable again, but stil runs rough. Then the rotors have "hot spots" on them, and the front brakes to to be replaced. Also, the struts on the front are broken and should be replaced. Additionally the whole front axel(CV boots and all) need to be replaced.
SO all in all,I've had this car for less than a year, I've put $3200 ADDITIONAL into it so far, and it still needs another $1200 besides the engine running bad. So although I like the car, I hate the problems.
