Before I Attempt This....(N34JZ)

Or DanNY...anyone who had changed their bulbs behind the guages. My friend tried the same thing and then his speedo didnt work. (on a miata)

Any safety precautions I need to take before changing them? I checked Craig's How To site...couldn't find a lot on HOW to remove the guage cluster...I'm guessing it's just screws and clips?

bulb #194 right? Are those the same in our doors, parking lights, gear shift (a/t), and trunk??

Thanks, (sorry if this irritates you d-sta, or anyone else)

Your Freind may have disconneted the wire for his speedo or pulled it to hard if it was mechanical, you should be alright, its really not that hard. And yep #194 bulb same as the door but im not sure about the gear shift.

and as far as taking the cluster out its held in by 4 screws (simple logic when taking the dash apart : pulling a little will tell you where screws are located )

there are 4 #194 bulbs in the cluster.
when you get it unscrewed there are a few harnesses you will have to unplug.

Also, the automatic shifter console is #194.

SUCCESS....and failure

I got all of them out...and when i finished screwing in the last screw...i noticed 4 more i missed...uh oh.

DAMN..my frickin light meter that controls the contrast is messed up. it's real low.

It was a b!tch to get the actual black ring of the cluster off. (w/ the a/c vents)

yeah, I had to take the cover off the steering wheel and tilt it way down. It still barely fit.

i've ripped my dash apart so many times now that the stuff comes out nice and smooth.

in case this wasn't mentioned already...a/t shifter bulb is also a 194. if ya wanna get real ricey you can change the 194 in the glovebox too.
