you can spend anywhere from a few hundred dollars (Maaco) for a crap job or a few thousand on an excellent (show quality) job. HOw much you willing to spend?

Re: paint job

like Chris said, you get what you pay for...but I went with a $500 job from Earl Schieb, its been 8 months(even for the last month whe the car hasn't moved) and not one, flake off, chip or fade. IMO, quality isn't based on the price, its base don who does your painting.

I asked the body shop where I took my max for a bumper replacement how much to paint the who car and he said about 5K, but that was with a lifetime guarentee. you're not going to get that from a $199 Macco special, but you will most likely get overspray and orange peal.

it does maker more who you take it to then cost, but shops like Macco make money on volume so they're going ot rush your car in and out and that's what usually causes bad quality.

I paid $4k and I got a great deal, Ive seen paint jobs for 5k that dont even look as good as mine, after seeing my paint job I would have paid $2k more.It is true that the actual painter makes a differance, but I gaurantee that a $500 paint job wont look as good as a $5,000 paint job

no doubt, i agree...the difference is what you are going for, if you want show quality than of course spend the big bucks, but if you want an average "everyday joe" job, I personally would spend no more than $700 on a paint job...as long as it looks good and doesn't peel off a few months later its a good job in my book. my advice is do what I did, watch how the shop preps the car(sanding, masking, etc.)...if its up to par go ahead with it.

ive always wondered why everyone i ask is strongly against changing color. my body shop said not to and said best choice on my car(white) is to change it to pearl white. Is that so it looks cloest to factory job?(if possible) or is it because its less labor for them?

paint job

It's just a matter of finding a shop that is willing to do the little details. My car used to be white now the only place you see white is if you remove the carpet, the rear dash, or the back seats. It was painted at the local Nissan dealership, under the doorhandles, engine bay, everything, it looks awesome but it's alot, alot of labour
