Anyone change their knock sensor on VE

Im looking to change my knock sensor due to it finally being totally dead, the car is a slug not boring to drive.

Before i go ahead with this task, i want to ask some of you that have done if there were problems with snapping bolts/screws/studs??
I know my maxima is over ten years old and this stuff is quite inevitable.

So the question is, what are the stats like for snapping bolts/screws/studs for changing a knock sensor?

I changed mine about a year ago and didn't snap any bolts. I did put anti-seize on almost every bolt when putting it back together though. Look at the maintenance links posted at the top of this forum. There are a few links about replacing the knock sensor.

Hey charlie, how you doing? I'm going to do my KS soon too. I'm shopping for parts at the moment. I'm still waiting for nissan dealer at Oakville quatation for the sub harness. They said they the sub harness is invalid, i've assure them that the sub harness is indeed valid and if they can get them. I'll keep you posted on this.

So let me know the prices you got, KS, sub harness, gaskets.

Thanks.

i know i can do the job. I ve done a couple of rebuilds on my own on on other cars, and have done much bigger jobs than this.
I just wonder what others have incountered regarding snapping bolts.

So, out of the three replies to my post, not one has answered my question. The sticky does not answer my f***n question, otherwise i wouldnt have posted.

also, search aint working.

I can post the prices of the parts when i do the KS. It wont be till at least next month, i have to get my colt ready for the track in the coming weeks. The maxima is always last priority for me, its kinda like the back up car for the colt when its getting upgraded.

no one has 'ever' mentioned anything about snapping a bolt when working on the max .

according to the sticky, it should be correct as my Mitchels guide gives me the same number, so our Canadian Nissan dealerships should carry that part.

The 24020-7E060 you have is the same part number that Rosenken had. But according to Kaleb from Courtesy Nissan, the correct sub harness is really 24079-96E00. I've confirmed this part with Rosenken and he agreed.

I don't know if you know this, Oakville Nissan offers 15% discount if you order it online. It's the cheaper so far in my research. I'm still waiting for them to give me the price quote on the sub harness, and i don't think i'll. I may have to order it from Courtesy Nissan from Kaleb. Hate paying for expensive shipping fees.

But isnt the subharness just masking the real problem?? The KS.

Im gonna change the KS itself, yes it is more work and more expensive, but i think its the right thing to do.

Check out Rosenken's article :http://www.4dsc.com/articles/drivetr...k_sensor.shtml

According to the 2nd Q&A, the failure of the KS is a result of corroded or poor connection between the harness and the KS terminal. You must replace the KS and the harness to get the expected gain.

I just got an email back from Oakville Nissan, they have to order the harness from Japan, because it's a Japan part. It's $44.52 CDN. Courtesy's price is $18.75 USD. I think i'm going to order it from Courtesy for this job(gaskets and harness)except the KS, cause it's only $154 CDN at Oakville, compare to $132 USD Courtesy.
