My Door code will not work.
I bought my Maxima about 8 months ago, I am just starting to get the money together for some mods, I went to the local NISSAN dealer to find out the code for my car and they said that it can be found under the glove box or beside the box. I got the code and it would not work. I asked the dealer and they said to make an appointment for a diagnostic and pay them lots of money. I was just wondering if any of you ever had to tackle this problem before? I would appreciate any help you can give me.
what exactly does it do when you punch in the 7 digit code?
If you have an owner's manual for the car, be sure to read what it says about everything in there.. since you found the number there, the rest should go exactly as the manual says.
I believe you have to press the CLR button first,
now enter the 7 digit code.
then you'll hear a long, constant beep. while it's beeping, type in your new code (4 to 7 digits), then wait for a few seconds. when it's done, you should hear a couple of "confirm" beeps at the end to signal the computer has learned the new code.
(it's been 2+ years since I've done it on mine though, so I could be wrong)..
now lock your doors and close them (make sure you have keys in hand so you don't lock them in the car if it doesn't work)..
press the CLR button and enter your new code.. the doors should unlock.
hope that helps.
