I was wondering who bought cams from Cattman or JWT, because I just purchased the last set from Cattman, and I was also wondering if everyone could give feed back once everything is installed.

Does anyone know how much it will cost to install the cams?

Cams aren't easy to install for beginners. You need to remove the intake manifold and then you'll need to work your way into the engine and remove the cams and replace them with the new ones. This is one of those mods where you don't want to make any slight mistakes! I was tempted to buy the Cams but I have no use for them. I was reading your sig and your max has some nice mods. Do you have any pics?? If not, can you get some pics for us?? Thanks

On the VG motor i believe you have to remove the heads, or pull the motor to get the cams out since they slide in the head. So it would cost a good bit for installation.

You're in Mass right? Maybe we can get together after you install them for some movies, pics, etc. There should be another Mass meet this spring.

You're in atlanta? im in marietta just above atlanta...how much did rebuilding your motor cost? Did you do the labor yourself? I would just need the parts prices because i can do the labor in my school's shop.

It was an total rebuild with no special components but I did get it polished and ported w/ the TB also I payed $3500.

Did anyone buy these cams, I'm really hoping that I will gain some serious HP.

Nismo87 is the only person who had cams and wonder what type of result he noticed before his engine died.

From my brief experience 40 miles . I can say that the cams + headwork kicked so much *** . My car pulled to 6500rpm with no problem. Also I had the ISKY 262 cam which is a mild cam upgrade compared to the JWT cams. I could feel the difference in power after 5000rpm vs stock cams/heads. I had more torque from 4000-6600rpm. Then I was fully able to take advantage of my Protorque TC. Although I didn't do any hardcore standing start launches, with just 60% throttle the car was jumping off the line. Then the cams + heads would finish off what the TC started. The JWT cams should have more midrange and toppend torque than the cams I had on my max. Also you should replace both your camshaft front oil seals and timing belt/tensioner, since you have remove it anyway. The install is a very, very big PITA. There are only 2 ways, pull the motor or pull the heads to install cams. The cheaper/easier way is to pull the motor so you can slide the old cams out. Otherwise you'd have to buy new head/intake manifold gaskets if you remove the heads. But if the VG cams are as good as the SR20DE cams from JWT are. I have a feeling you'd have a pretty good smile on your face once you open it up in 3rd gear.

How much did you pay for the cams?
I'm thinking I may do this as a summer project after I get my seats and interior done.

I payed $545

JWT is sold out! You may want to try Cattman they may have one left. Both companies got the cams from Japan and will not recieve anymore, they stopped making them.

I really didn't have the $$$ but I had to have them.

Re: NISMO87

Nope my engine died because the headgasket blew. It also appears that my front cylinder head has a crack around the #2 spark plug hole.

Yes you can get cams however, they will have to be regrinds. So you should order new cams from nissan then send them to ISKY or crower to get reground.
