16's on a Maxima 3rd Gen

Hey I was lookin at these really nice rims and there pretty good price problem is there only 16'sx7 whatever that means. They say they fit accords, eclipses, and maximas. Iwas wondering if anyone had pictures of 16's on a Maxima are they too small u think?

16s

Your kidding right. If your going to buy wheels that small you should just get some 97-99 5 spokes. Buying 16 inch chrome wheels will make you look silly. Just my 2 cents.

16 X 7 = 16 inches wide, 7 inches in width

16's kinda small IMO. but i guess i can't complain, i still have those 15 inch stockers

it seems the "optimal" size to get for good aftermarket wheels is 17"

if you are going to upgrade to bigger brakes in the future, go with 17s...
if you will race and look good while at it, go for lightweight 16s...
if you will "bling", go for chrome 18s, 19s or 20s (which i think is ridiculous)
if you are going to keep the car looking as stock as possible, go with 95-96 se sawblade rims 15s.

If you're getting 16's get the 97-99 rims they make a 3rd gen look very clean.

What ever you decide be prepared to pay the price. Maintanence for bigger rims is costly. I went for the blinging 18's on my Max and they look great! BUT the cost of putting them on and taking them off in the winter and the life of the tires suck. If you go with 16's that don't have low profile tires they won't look too bad, but if you have the thin tires, then it will look horrible

16's on a Maxima 3rd Gen can look great

my opinion:

chrome aftermarkets on the maxima look basically ghetto and wal-mart/gangland-ish.

were i you, i would stay in the nissan family for the 3rd gen. i have looked far into this, have poured over hundreds of magazine pages and web sites on wheels. >>> larger wheels than factory on the 3rd gen that look good exist only in a very narrow range.

16's can look great. 17's can look good, but only very few. and i reiterate, stay away from chrome. chrome detracts from the eye looking at anything else on the car, namely the body style! chrome, in this case, clashes with the maxima. and it looks cheap and tasteless, even if the rims are costly. high prices for wheels does not translate into taste. this principle applies to anything, actually. it is a sort of "axiom."

stay with 16 or 17 inches. no larger, please. get either 4th gen SE 5-spokes, or look into Nismo products, like the LMGT-1 or 4 series. those are awesome. i have, for example, Skyline GTS-t rims for the front, and GTR rims for the rear in GUNMETAL. and they are 16's, fitting perfectly on bolt-up.

typically, a lighter paint, like pearl or silver, mandates DARKER wheels. whilst darker paint, like black or blue, looks complimented/dressed-up nicely with silver or neutral wheels.

and remember, the wheels are the singlemost personality cue of the car, moreso than the engine. the wheel choice can drastically alter the entire cars' presence, as that is the first thing that the eyes land on. wheels either enhance or ugly-up any car. be wise and take your time, be very picky and look endlessly at other cars in magazines and on web sites. pay attention to what color/pattern wheels look best on what paint and on what body shape. this is VERY important. i have seen so many skimpy half-measures on display everywhere.

FYI: bolt pattern for maxima is 5/114.3mm, 30-40mm offset, up to 9" wide. (but stay under 8").

Dont listen to that guy. There are plenty of members on this org with chrome aftermarket wheels that look great. Chrome only brings out your car even more. I hate when people use the term ghetto to describe something that they dont like . Get what you like and what you think will look good on your car.

chrome v. non

yes. absolutely. this is an open forum for anyone. diversity is beautiful and interesting. get what you like >>> to anyone here: get it now. if you like some particular wheels. get them. don't let my opinion stop you. go for the one. but wheels make or break the entire look of the car. poor wheel choice can make a nice looking car look "off." nice wheels, conversely, can sex-up an otherwise mediocre car.

but chrome is a hard one. you risk going tasteless and tacky unless the field is narrowed considerably. it's comparable to wearing too much jewelry- like trying too hard to look "dope" - most often, it just reveals poor judgement and tastelessness. people often assume that just because you slap chrome onto a sedan, the car is now so way cool-looking. or, to go to an extreme, if one buys a mercedes benz 500 series car, only to put "low-rider" profile chrome or gold-plated spoke wheels on it, the person thinks they're the sh*t. as if all of their peers should envy them. but, really, it reads only "stupid looking." or "drug dealer from the hood."

i find the deep-dish chrome wheels, like by Work, the Meister S2's, for example, quite nice. check out wheels by Longchamp, the XRV's as well. very nice. even a polished lip with gunmetal spokes is cool. but, sadly, most all-chrome rims are totally hoaky looking. especially wheels you find in those advertisements in tuner magazines with the double-page spreads, the discount houses, etc. just rubbish. most are crap. be picky with wheels. take time to really do your homework. you can cheat under the hood, hide it. but you cannot hide the wheels.
