Locked keys in car while running
I'm not sure how i did it , was pumping gas . shut my door and got locked out. i was in walking distance to my slimjim tho >=]. Anyways i was thinking of a post way back of someone saying they wired something outside the car so if they got locked out they could ground it and open the doors... Where would u start? with that the 2 wires running into the door for the switch or the lock timer under the dash ? Dc works hot/ground so would u just run a hot 'somewhere' and ground it? or even a little push button switch..

if you have to ask questions like that, I wouldn't attempt it. you need to understand how the lock system works on the car before you start dinking with it.
read a few alarm install guides first, and you'll know most of what you need. then the rest is looking up the wire colors in the FSM.

normally you dont want to ground a "hot" wire
anyway, the door locks work on a negative/ground pulse system where a - pulse is used to trigger them (separate wires for lock and unlock)
there is a sky blue wire at the door lock timer that is the wire for the unlock signal, connect a new wire into that wire (make sure not to mess up the original wire or else your locks wont work)
run this new wire to somewhere on the outside of the car where it can be hidden and wont be in the way of moving parts
I put a connector on the end of the wire that slides off so I just pop that off and then ground the wire to metal on the chassis and it'll unlock
if you want to get a little more advanced, you can also have it disarm the alarm, but it's easier to just unlock, grab your keys and disarm it yourself

And you just filled up too....what a waste of gas. Yeah, I got a Keypad too, so it's impossible for me to lock my car with it running. And if I ever lock my keys inside my car, I still know my Keypad code to unlock it....Damn the GXEs are nice.....only thing they're good for.
