Sending Unit for Oil Pressure

I recently had my oil changed and noticed that my oil was very low but the oil pressure sensor light did not come on. I have a Chiltons manual and I can't find where to replace the sending unit. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Sending Unit for Oil Pressure

I've hear you shouldn't expect that light to warn you until theres nothing left.... most likely the sensor is fine, its just that the light doesn't come on until its too late. anyways, Haynes says its right by the filter area.

Well ya know I'm not a car expert so I thought I would pose that question. You would figure that if the level was low that it would warn you. So thanks anyway.

Sounds like you let someone else change your oil? Well that was probably the problem, you let an idiot touch your car

Otherwise, did you notice any oil stains where you park your car? A very common leak on the max is the front crank oil seal, its usually a very slow leak. The seal costs about $4, but you need an impact wrench to remove the main pulley.

The oil light will not come on until the pressure drops to about 2-4 psi (or some low number like that) My oil light had came on three times since owning the car, all three times due to a busted oil line. I had a aux oil cooler at the time, magical word being HAD. And let me tell you, when that light came on I had less than a quart of oil in the pan and the lifters were singing a god awful song. Not good. The oil cooler will be out TFN
