Installing a new stereo

Sorry if this thread has been covered before, I'm still new to this stuff. I want to change out my whole stereo system in my '89 Max with the Bose system. The head unit is only a tape deck and some of the amps on the speakers are blown. I realize I'm going to have to replace everything which is fine.

What am I going to have to do as far as wiring harnesses, connecting new speakers etc. I'd really appreciate any help from someone who's done this before.

It's actually a really easy process in the Maxima's. The headunit itself is really easy to take out and getting the dash apart isn't really that big of a deal? The front speakers come out by removing a couple of bolts on the door panel and pulling the panel off and having everything exposed. For the rear speakers, you have to take out the 2 bolts behind the armrest and 2 bolts underneath on each of the sides to get the upper part of the seat off. After that, you just pop the deck off and the rear speakers are right there.

Good luck man!

he has the bose system though. i'm pretty sure the rear speakers are held in by 4 bolts on the underside of the rear deck. it needs to be unbolted from inside the trunk, and the speakers should just fall right out. you do the steps like MaximaBalla said if your system is non-bose.

as for the wiring, you can use the speaker wires that already run to each of the speakers, all you need to do is make sure that you leave the power wire for the bose amps disconnected (sorry can't remember the colour) When i upgraded my HU, i bought a harness plug from the local shop here, which plugs in to the car's wiring loom, and has the wiring diagram included, so it was simple.
