How much for a tranny rebuild?
I'm taking my car in to the Stealership next week. I have the infamous 92 SE stalling and hard shifting problem. Just in case I'd like to know how much rebuilding the tranny should cost approximately... Also,is rebuilding it different any better or worse than getting a new tranny?

man its a pain in the *** to rebuild our tranny's if its automatic. i had to take mine out 8 times to get it to work right. the job itself from the shop i worked at runs u atleast $1200 but since i worked at the shop i only spent $400 on everything. the problem for me was the valve body. im not sure if its worse or any good to rebuild the tranny but from my point of view mine still has some small things to fix but if i were u i would just buy a used one from ur local junkyard. its a lot cheaper trust me. right now im lookin' for a motor with the 5-speed tranny. as soon as i get that im swappin' my old motor with the auto tranny out and puttin' the new motor with 5-speed tranny in. to me its like havin' a 300zx motor with a sentra tranny but i'll leave it at that. good luck on fixin' it hopefully u shouldn't have the same problems i had when i fixed mine.

I'm definitely not doing this myself...

thats with the labor and the parts together. but i might be off on the pricin' but i know thats what my boss would of charged me if i was just a customer at his shop. but i would just buy a used one which is way cheaper than rebuildin' ur old one and just pay about $100+ to just put in the used one at a good shop that u know about. good luck.

I am not going to repair it any more. I will just drive it as long as it runs.

the same with me. like i said before i had to replace 2 valve bodies and it still doesn't perform as it did before it blew on me. all that matters to me is that all the gears shift except when it goes into 2nd gear there is a minor delay but im not messin' with this damn tranny again till i get my new motor with the 5-speed tranny with it.
