Is it possible to replace the clutch and bearing on teh A/cC compressor when the bearing is shot or do you need to replace the whole compressor??
If you can replace just the clutch assy., where can you get one and how much $ ??

 

in about 2 weeks i'll have my air conditioner setup for sale assuming all goes well with a sunroof install. shoot me an email if you need the compressor.

Bruce, I have a 92 SE and the compressor has a fairly loud whine when engaged. The whine gets louder as RPM increases. I hope its just the bearing, does your's do the same thing?

Has anyone tackled this compressor whine?

I believe it had a whine , which turned into a grinding sound. The end of the compressor where the belt goes around and the fingers of the clutch are, wobbles quite a bit when the engine is running. The compressor make s a loud grinding sound when the A/C is not engaged. When the A/C is engaged the wobbling is still present, but the grinding stops because the clutch is now rotating.
