another tranny problem

For the past few months my transmission has been slipping. It only happens in the morning when the engine is cold. Then when I drive for about two miles the engine gets warm and it doesn't slip anymore. Then the other morning I had driven 30 miles, let the car idle in park for a few minutes and it would shift into reverse. It was in gear but it just wouldn't pull. I put it in drive and the engine sounded as if it was going to fall out. Transmission fluid looked burnt although it was changed about a year ago. Not knowing whats going on I priced a rebuilt tranny at 1,500. Does anyone think that I just might need a new tranny? If so would a rebuilt tranny installed for 1,500 be a good/fair price?? Thank you everyone......

Re: another tranny problem

Well if you havent changed your tranny fluid in a year I guess it would be burnt. You have to remember that our cars are older than 10 years so you have to stay on top of your matinence. You probaly will need a rebuild since the fluid reduces friction and heat but since yours probaly hasnt been doing that for quite some time your tranny has been going through hell.
