Does a new engine always need a new tranny
MY 1992 Maxima gxe has the VG engine in it, which needs to be rebuilt. Would it, and could it be worth to find a Nissan engine with more power, such as the VE engine in the SE maxima's or newer engines (XTERA, frontier)since i have to rip half the engine apart. More importantly, will those engines mate with the origional transmission that i have.
Are there any high flow exhaust systems out there (reasonably priced) if i do all this work?
Thanx for ur help!

You don't need a transmission unless you find that the transmission is shifting improperly.
VE will not fit directly.
www.warpspeedperformance.com is your answer to an exhaust system.
