Strut length question....

I'll be replacing my front struts and putting Intrax springs on shortly. My question is this....., are Tokico, Koni, KY's, etc. the same length as our stock struts? I ask because I was considering buying Monroe Sensa-Trac stuts (there's a special on right now), but don't want to buy them if they'll just ride poorly.
Thanks guys.

Yeah, they are all the same length.

Thanks.
Next question then... Besides the name game, is there any reason most members aren't using name brand (but not performance name brand) struts?? Seems to me that an exceptionally large company, such as Monroe, would be able to build a strut that would perform just as well, if not better than Koni or Tokico?

they valve them for ride comfort, NOT performance.

Yeah...., that much I suspected. I guess what I really meant was - how significant would the real world difference between them be? I drive on very rough roads here.

IMO if you are going to lower a car with lowering "performance" springs you should get performance struts. Reason being is that they are stiffer than the Monroes and the springs would not last as long otherwise, IMO of course.

I'm lowering the car for visual appeal - not performance. It is a 4 door family sedan after all. However...., you make a very good point about the strut stiffness affecting the life of the springs. Thanks for your help and input guys.

It won't really affect the life of the springs. However a normal strut/shock will not hold up as long if you match it with lowering springs.

As randy said.. a soft strut will wear out even faster when paired with a stiff spring. higher spring rates require higher damping rates to keep the motion in check. otherwise you look like a flared and blared civic bouncing down the road.. yuck.
