I have a couple spots of rust and a spot on the rear quarter panel that was hit. A friend is going to work on them, but I have to provide the paint and clear coat. It's the gold paint for a '93 SE.

go to paintscratch.com to get the paint code. I am sure there are other places but thats a good place...I would not buy the paint from there since it is a pretty large spot.

Or actually get it off of the plate on the firewall-the best thing to do. Then go to a local auto supply house that deals with paint and get all the materials. I am not sure but figure it would be just as cheap to buy the paint locally than some place on the internet.

I actually went to my local dealer and they gave me a little can of paint for about $3.00. I'd do that, that way you'd know that it's the exact matching color.

I dont think a little can from the dealer will work for repairs on the quarter panel.

that is for touch ups of chips.

Sure it will. It depends on if you get the small can or the little nail polish looking bottle. The small can you can open up and spray with a gun...

errr...generally the paint they put in that rattle can is very much thinned out. what you shoot with a real gun is a little thicker than that. so taking the contents of the can and putting it in a gun and spraying it is a bad bad move.

I still dont think it would be enough for the repairs he said he is getting done and if I was having repairs done I would pay for good paint from a supply house and not some touch up paint from the dealer. I could be wrong but even though its in a can and can be sprayed I still think its just touch up paint. Would you buy a lot of it and paint your whole car or a large portion of it? I know I wouldnt.

Clear coat part of factory Paint?

Hi
I am going to have my car repainted in the factory color from the ID plate. Is there a clear coat that is sprayed on after that factory paint, or is it shiny without spraying a clear coat on the car. Thanks.

let whoever is doing the paint take care of that. There are different kinds of paint. if the painter uses a base coat/clear coat system then the paint will look dull after the base (color) coat and will need a clear coat on it. If he uses a single stage paint then it will be shiny without a clear coat.
