want opinon on new rotors and pads

just had the max since december...needs rotors bad...think pads are good but i figure replacing them along with rotors is best

I was thinking ordering the Brembo front rotors off tirerack for $44 a peice doesn't sound too bad and ive heard Brembo has a good reputation.

was also gonna just gonna get pads from a local nissan shop? any better suggestions? I don't wanna go to autozone and get refurbished ****..had to many problems out of those in the past..and if i leave it up to my father thats what ill end up with

im not gonna get the rediculous crossdrilled bull**** rotors either..just the standard smooth surface

also...the rotors were in pretty bad shape when i got them...bad grooves in them but they worked good and were decently smooth

month or so ago...camry lost control on interstate one night and i narrowly avvoided them...did some hard breaking and sliding....ever sine this breakes have been vibrating when coming down offramps and grinding real bad. Why didn't abs work? the ABS light in dash isn't on? what should i check for?

tires also got goofed up after that....i thought for awhile that it just rubbed flat surface on one side of tire when i slid...but i don't think so now because it hasn't worn past the effect...maybe separated belts.....nonetheless i wanna get some good tire sbut its gonna cost me 5-600 for some michelins

for a full set from local places in my area ive found:
Kumho ECSTA 711 $415
Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus $590
Michelin XGT V4 $520

anyone with experience.. looking at tirerack im not impressed with any of the stats or customer reviews

I don't think there is any such thing as a refurbished pad. The only refurbished part for brakes I know of is the caliper.

Btw, nopi has vented brembo rotors (fronts) for $37

Have you seen if you can just get the rotors resurfaced. If they can still just be resurfaced than do that and save the $40/each for a rainy day. Switching the rotors later ins't too difficult to do.

for rotors, also check out www.foreignautoparts.cc for good prices

for tires, I got the Kumho Ecsta 713 from tirerack in 215/55/16 for $325 shipped to my house and just paid $73 to get them all installed and balanced this morning so $400 total. They would have taken 3 days to deliver but UPS messed up the address so it took 2 more days of clearing up the mistake.
I previously had Yoko V4 which I got from NTB. I dont remember the price but I just got them there since I needed tires really badly and didn't have time to wait for the mail.
I've only driven 2 miles on the Kumho so I cant compare the two yet

Do disc rotors come with two when you order from the store?

I found the picture shows two, but not sure?

the picture that shows two is for Mountain rotors which I've never heard of; I'd definitely choose the Brembos over those

either way, those prices are for a single rotor (left and right are the same)

My old car, a Mitsubishi Galant, has rotor problem. They got warped within a couple months! That is, if I drove conservatively. Otherwise, one moderately hard stop from 70mph would warp them. A clear case of not big enough rotors. So I replaced them with Frozen Rotors. They're more expensive than regular rotors, but they last considerably longer, even with some autocrossing events thrown at them. So if you want something better than stock, give them a try. I also used Carbotech Panther brake pads in my old car (great brake feel & performance! But extremely dusty) then Green Stuff brake pads (good, and not so dusty, though dustier than regular pads).

take a look at that post at the very top of this forum by Jeff92se, it has a link to chiltons online that'll show you exactly how to do it

that link is also in the FAQ thread at the top of this forum if you can find Jeff's thread

Besides a jack and lug wrench all you need is a #13 or 14 socket and something to help turn the wrench. If you replace the pads you'll need a big C-clap. Thats all

a torque wrench is also nice so you don't have to guess and either put the parts on too tight or lose...it's a bad thing to have your brakes fall off while driving IMO
