I have a 1993 SE auto. A few years ago when i bought it i was stupid and thought it was fun to go fast. to my dismay my car was governed at 125 mph. but then today came around. it was early in the mornin and i had had a bad night. i like to drive to relieve my stress. so i hoped on the freeway and drove. i saw i was approaching 125 and i was expecting to stop at that speed. but ths time the needle kept going and going past. by the time i noticed i was going 140 and i slowed down. im very confused because i dont know why this is and i dont have a check engine light or anything and i didnt snip the wire in the ECU if i wanted to get rid of my speed limiter. anything?? thanks

theres no limiter. maybe you just didn't press down hard enough the first time

you know thats funny because up untill about 3 months ago i thought my car was govned at 128 because i had tryed it prbobly like 5 times and every time it wont cut out but then there was this thread saying that se's dont have governers so i tryed it again and i did 146 and then a week after that 150 so i defenatly dont have a governer i think it would just hesitate at 128 or somthing wierd

it's not. I'm taking it for granted that all of you speed demons have autos...
there's no limiter on 3rd gens. what you're feeling is the transmission's torque convertor going into full lockup. at that speed it takes a couple of seconds to go in, and will feel like a governor has kicked in.
