Just replaced fuel filter, wondering how many more MPG I will get................

Need help with Fuel Filter ASAP.....
Ok, my friend and I are tugging and tugging to get the fuel hoses that come out from the top and bottom of the old fuel filter and they aren't coming out. Now I know you have the deprssurize (spelling) the gas line by taking out the fuel pump fuse which is like 10A and like 6 from the bottom on the right side. Now what the heck is going on and how come we can't get these freakin hoses pulled off. We need help ASAP because were doing it right now. Thank you.

Just pulling won't work. You have to CAREFULLY hold the line w/ pliers/vice grips and then TWIST the filter or line to "crack" it free. Then you should be able to gently twist/pull the line off. Once you get one line off, the other is alot easier because you can just hold the line and twist the filter.

I just replaced my fuel filter and was wondering how many more MPG I will get now that I have it in. I think I got 200-250 mpg before and now I am just wondering if anyone knows off the top of thier head before I test it out????

I don't think replacing the fuel filter is going to give you that magical increase in mileage you want. The fuel filter is just part of the delivery. It is the engine that actually uses the gas so unless your fuel filter was really plugged (which would have been noticable by a poor running car) you probably won't see much improvement.
If you want to increase your mileage you need to target things that will cause the engine to burn less efficiently. Spark plugs, O2 sensors, exhaust leaks, etc... It also helps to keep the lead out of your foot.
From what I have seen on this board it seems that a properly running max should be able to get at least 400 to 450 miles to a tank on a freeway or even higher. (Most I ever got was 500.) If your in the city then your looking at high 300's, and low 400's.

im doing something wrong becaue Im only averaging 260-275 on a good tank with 85 percent freeway miles. havent replaced spark plugs or o2 sensors. for the plugs any brand other than ngk ? o2 sensor how much does that run where is best place to buy? just local auto parts store or dealer

regular NGK plugs are fine for the VE also... if you want to change them every 15k miles. I've had them in my car since right after I bought it (almost two years ago).
O2 sensor.. bosch or NGK are both fine. dealer or parts store are both fine. just buy one.

holy cow, you get 400 to 450 to 500 miles on a tank???? well i have a 94 gxe 3.0L V6 automatic with 130k miles. on a full tank, i believe i can pull 360+, but i usually refill it around 300-320. car seems to be running fine, and i do about 85% highway driving at 70mph everyday. and i use 93 octane unleaded gas, hardly ever use lead foot. do you think there is a problem with o2 sensors, spark plugs, etc? what are your thoughts, thanks

If your getting only 225 miles to a tank you are getting 12.5 miles per gallon. That is worse then my old Ranchero with a 351 Cleveleand, Dual Exhaust and headers, and I doubt you are putting down the horse power that baby is.
My question is does your car run smoothly? My thinking is if your car is burning twice as much gas then it should be running like crap. If your car does run smooth then maybe you need to look elsewhere.
Try this list:
The first thing to check is your lead foot, which you already said you don't have.
Check your brakes, make sure they are not tight. With the car up on jacks you should be able to turn the wheels with a minimal amount of effort.
Check your tire pressure. I usually fill my tires between 32 and 40 psi (never exceeding manufactures spec).
Make sure you don't have any fuel leaks. I good test for this is by parking your car over some paper, preferably printing press paper (the stuff that is about three feet wide and comes on a roll) so you can cover the whole bottom of the car. Leave it parked overnight on this paper, you should be able to easily see in the morning any gas residue. The gas itself will evaporate but it will leave a tell tale sign in the paper.
You should also check to see if the car is leaking while running. Repeat the paper process but you need to be careful you don't light the paper on fire. Consider using cardboard or some other material if you are worried about it.
Also, check your gas cap. Make sure that it is sealing good.
Check your fuel return line. (Not sure how this is done.)
Try using some fuel injector cleaner.
Check to make sure the neighborkid with a hot rod isn't siphoning gas out of your car at night.
On my car I installed a Jacobs electronics ignition system and it seems to have added at least 1-2 miles per gallon. The 500 miles to a tank was literally as far as I got because I ran out of gas rolling into the gas station. It figured into 27mpg which wasn't to bad, it was of course all freeway driving. I would say on average I get around 25mpg.
