Yet another VTC question, a little different this time...

Yet another VTC question, a little different this time...

I was curious, if you advance your timing...drive for a few days, then ground your VTC's, would it mess with the timing? ie: when you go to unground them again, would the timing be the same?

i imagine if u hooked up a timing light 2 the car b/f and after thatd tell u...vtcs only affect top end timing so i wouldnt think it makes a difference, but this damm car is so complicated who knows...

I thought VE engines don't need timing adjustment... At least this is what said about them in Haynes.

If VTC's only affect top end, why did my cold idle go to hell after I grounded them things?

the vtc are cam timing, the "timing advance" thru the cam angle sensor is ignition timing (when the spark fires) so i dont think they affect each other

well darn...i dunno exactly, see i knew i prolly wasnt sayin it right, but i didnt feel like using the brain power, but u get the point...only affects timing at certain times u would think, not thruout the powerband...besides, i wouldnt know cause mine work

ps, when i ground mine when i change my oil my idle changes, but is not crappy...
