For some reason I cant open my trunk from the outside with my key. I opened the trunk today to make sure that the trunk rod was still in place and it was. The last time I had this problem on my 91SE someone here told me about a switch or something inside the trunk lid that helped me I just cant remember what it was. Could someone please let me know what to do so that my key will turn so I can unlock it from the outside. Thanks.

that switch your talking about goes up and down and that is only so that you can disable someone from opening the trunk by using the push button release on the drivers door. as far as the key not working.. maybe you got the valley key? or just that the hole is rusted and cant turn.. i had a same problem, i just kept wiggling the key until it turns.

My trunk key hole didnt work when i bought the car; had the lock repaired then it broke again, so i just use the button on the driver door. That security lever is to prevent someone from opening the trunk with the driver door button. I accidentally hit the security lever awhile ago so with the key hole not working, i had to rip the back seats out to flip the lever up to get in the trunk.. after getting ****ed and jamming the key hole with a screwdriver

WORN OUT KEY

You may have a worn key, which is harder to operate. If one of your keys is an original key or you have the papers from when the car is new or you know what dealer it was bought at. You can get the key code. The key code is a 4 digit number on the side of the original key or on the paper work that came with the car. Sometimes the selling dealer will have the key number on file.
With the key number go to the dealer and have a new key made. Also put some key lubricante in the key hole. Should work.

Either that or you are using the valet key. Same key number but different key blank.

I just replaced my lock, relatively simple procedure and Courtesy sells them fairly cheap. My key never worked (lube, WD40, graphite etc....) and when my button on the door panel stopped engaging I had to do something. Got tired of the spare and jack in the back seat.

BTW - was able to fix the button too. I had to adjust the box under the trim by the latch, moved it over as far as I could to provide more tension on the cable.
