HELP! 92 SE Power door locks

For some strange reason my power door locks on my 92 SE dont work anymore. When I push the lock or unlock button i hear a little tick by the steering wheel but no reaction. Anyone have this problem or have any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking it could be a blown fuse but i dont know where it is?

Nope its not a fuse. This is very common issue in our cars. It's the door lock timer located under the steering panel, its a little grey box. You can do three things to repair it;

1. Buy a new one from the dealer. I think they cost like $80.00.
2. Go to the junkyard and buy one that works.
3. Ask Matt93se, our moderator to fix it. He has offered the service before but I don't think for free. That is something you have to discuss with him if you decide to take this route.

4. open the door lock timer up yourself and resolder it

worked for me and I fixed my friend's also

same symptoms - no power door locks and could hear the clicking under the dash

I just talked to Matt and he's going to do it for me. I rather let someone with experience do it. I was thinking of doing it myself but I just rather pay someone who hs done it before.

yeah, that's a good idea

I just meant that if he knows how to solder already, he can do it himself. You dont want to try to learn to solder on a existing module like the door lock timer or clock.

Weird shiznit

Hey i had the same problem and i got it out and soldered the thing myself. Made me happy cuz i could open my doors again. But, this past month when i park my car out in the sun during school and my car gets toasty hot inside the locks stop working. But magically over night they fix themselves. Its driving me insane. anyone got any ideas?

Actually in the summer time they don't work at all for me. They only work in the winter time when its really cold. I guess it has something to do with the solder gets hot and cold. For real weird shiznit

OK I have this problem (from above) some of the time, plus one more:

When it's wet outside, my driver's door lock (i.e. from the outside with the key) won't disable the alarm or unlock all of the doors. I have to walk around to the passenger's side and turn the key back twice from there. It seems to do this usually only when it's raining or has been raining.

Does this jive with the gray box problem? Or is there a short in the lock mechanism inside the door? Could I have both problems?

I'd also like to know exactly what to solder in the lock mechanism. Or will it be obvious?

I have the Same problem, My Power Locks don't work, I checked ther Lock Time Delay module, and re-soldered the points...But still no luck.

Can someone tell me what can be the problem. is the actual module dead, like one of the coils don't work?

What can be done
