i advanced my timing from 15 degrees to 20 degrees in my 1991 maxima. i always run premium but i want to know what spark knock sounds like so if i hear it i can retard the timing. also, now upon WOT acceleration, there is a slight hiss, like a turbocharger sound, is this bad?

that hiss might be an exhaust leak. check the bolts on the manifold to see if they're broken.

nope, its more of a whistle, and it happened right after i did this. already got my broken exhaust studs replaced. btw, 20 degrees isnt too much is it?

mine makes that noise too, right after i advanced mine to 20 degrees. ive had no pinging but i think that noise is a vacuum seal leak.
