changing the green lights in your gauges.
The bulbs are located behind the instrument cluster, so you have to remove the whole cluster. But before you do this, I think that the GXE gauges have green already in the cluster. This means that no matter what color bulb you put in, you'll still get green. What I'm doing is getting an instrument cluster from an 89 SE and just replacing it.
I think "ngthing" has used overlays to get the white faces, but he said he had trouble getting the green color out. You might want to talk to him.
BTW, can anybody tell me how to remove the cluster? I have directions for a 4th gen, and it should be similar, but I don't want to take any chances with my car.
Thanks.

I don't think the SE gauges have this green overlay problem since I've heard that you can change the color pretty easily (either by lights or caps on the lights). I will tell you when I get my cluster, prolly by next week.
I have a GXE and my gauges didnt have any green inlay in the gauges themselves. The reason that the gauges are green is because there is a green piece of rubber over the clear bulbs behing the gauges that tints them green. I took the rubber part off of the bulbs and painted the bulbs blue. The gauges are deffinitely blue now but they are very dim. I would recommend not painting the buls like I did. Sometime down the road I'm gonna have to replace the bulbs with real blue bulbs. But as far as I know there is no green tint in the gauges themselves, but only the bulbs. Now for the 89-91's it might be different.
i think that write up on how to take the dash apart should be in someones FAQ. it is a usful peice and well written, thanks DaBox, maybe John Ng can put it in his FAQ, cause its a good thing to have i think maybe john ng new FAQ or somehting
