Trip to cape may gone bad need help

Well I was on a fishing trip to cape may and leaving the bait shop there was alot of traffic in both directions. So I floored it without noticing the curb, at which point I hopped it. It was like a scene out of dukes of hazzard. Any way next thing I hear is TING TING TING and I see the cover to my catalytic converter falls off. I was just wondering is that cover nesscary? Should I get another one? Are there any dangers to NOT having it covered? Thanks ahead of time guys.

that cover was a heat shield...shouldn't worry unless you park in areas with dry leaves etc.

why the hell did you floor it if there was traffic in both directions...remind me not to take my max to cape may anymore
