This is what the white faced guages look like at night with the Xenon 194 bulbs. The color on this pic is a little off because the film was kinda crappy. It is supposed to look White instead of that yellowish color. But as you can see it is much brighter than it was before, especially with the needles.

Here is a daytime pic

Hopefully this gives you a better idea of the outcome. I personally am really impressed with the difference. I suggest this upgrade to anyone with dim guages.

Actually, the bulbs are by Tucan. My local parts shop has this 1000 page catolog with car and truck accessories and he just orders the parts from it. The bulbs ran me about $5 bucks a pair, Which isnt too bad. Anything by PIAA seems to burn the hole in the pocket. I tend to stick with APC and Tucan.

I see...the reason I ask...I had PIAA PLatinum X HID (i think?) 194's in my 90SE (when I had it) and it looked really cool...the pict on my website has a pict of three of them with one red (brand name) 194. It looks almost "rainbow-y"

were your gauges originally green or white light?

They light was originally white light. SE's came with white guages. I think that if you want your guages to shine white instead of green, you need new overlays and new bulbs.

The blue bulbs would look cool in an SE gauge (white faces). If you have a GXE (black faces), then I'm not so sure that the blue will show through. A guy on the board said that there is like a green inlay that makes the light green no matter what.

I want to buy some Hiper whites from http://www.autotoys.com. If I don't put caps on them, will anything burn in my dash? What color would the dash be at night?

Thanks.

That gauge looks nice. What do you guys think about red xenon bulbs if they make them. Would this give you that red light look like some European cars such as beamers?
